Further in my reading I found that SFBT (Solution Focus Behavior Therapy) developed from the strengths perspective, according to (Lee, 2003) solution focus therapy emphasizes personal construction of reality, pragmatic use of client’s strengths, and the client’s empowerment. Solution Focus began in the late 1970’s created by Steve de Shazer, Insoo Kim Berg and their colleagues at the Brief Family Therapy Center of Milwaukee according to (Cooper & Lesser, 2015). The founders of SFT were influenced by Milton Erickson’s view and belief that the client knows identifies the problem, not the therapist. This originally according to (Cooper & Lesser, 2015) states that originally the model focused on problem patterns as the cursor to formulating the solution.
