    What would you do if you were the only person in your class who was not allowed to wear overalls? You’re the odd ball and the classic bandwagon argument of “everyone else is wearing them!” does not work, and your mother just does not seem like she’s going to change her mind anytime soon. Then your mother comes back with the famous “You’re not everyone else” or “I’m raising you to a higher standard”. You say “why not?” she says, “because I said so” and that’s yet again another argument you have lost. Admit it! We have all been there at least once in our lives. In the book Little Britches, Ralph went through this as well. Except, surprisingly Ralph actually won! I believe Mother should have allowed Ralph to wear overalls to school for three reasons. Ralph would learn responsibility and consequences of choices, Ralph may not have gotten hurt, and he would have enjoyed school more. The first reason Mother should have allowed Ralph to wear overalls is that Ralph would learn responsibility and consequences of choices. Ralph was old enough to make his own clothing decision. His apparel was modest and his attitude was uplifting so he deserved the responsibility. If he was old enough to go to school, he was old enough to face consequences of his actions. If wearing overalls were a bad idea, Ralph would soon find out for himself. The second reason Mother should have allowed Ralph to wear overalls is he may not have gotten hurt.
