    and warm welcome. “Hello, Nick.” She puts me at ease. We both stand in front of the photographs, and she points where Kooskia City Hall should be. She then directs me to her office and points to a chair to sit down. It is not the most comfortable chair, but it will do. The name plate on her desk spells out Teresa Lytle. As I am sitting down, I notice the mahogany furniture and the marble desktop. “Very fancy,” I thought Brandt 2 for Kooskia. She also looks very professional with a blue and black pattern blouse, black slacks, and dress shoes. Her hair just right and with a little makeup. She smiles once again. Currently, Teresa Lytle is the Kooskia City Clerk and Treasurer. But she started her career at the county level. She worked as a secretary. When she left the county, she felt guilty because they had sent her on numerous training and she really did enjoy her job. Several things made her quit: the long drive to Grangeville, her family, and her elderly parents. Having her kids, husband, elderly parents down in the valley and driving every single day was tough. She quit and soon after got the city clerk job in Stites. It was part-time but fit her life well. She was the Stites City Clerk for five years. Her current position came up in 1998. She decided to apply because of the retirement and health benefits. She was thinking of the future. At the time my dad was the Mayor of Kooskia, and he is the one who hired her.
