the first day was like an adrenaline rush. Not only did I develop new friendships within my peer group, but it allowed me to expand my knowledge of dance outside of my previous training with professional choreographers. During the fall semester, I learned the choreography of “Turn on the Blacklight” by Teena Marie Custer. This piece was the most successful performance for me as I was able to apply my jazz and hip-hop experience. Not only did I learn the choreography of “Turn on the Blacklight”,…
Kalani Herrera 100 North Sunray Circle Tucson, Arizona 85702 Re: Attractive Nuisance Doctrine Suit Dear Ms. Herrera: I hope you’ve been well. Recently, we discussed the personal injury lawsuit filed against you by the Malone family, on behalf of their daughter Maria. I enjoyed meeting with you and hearing about the “Soggy Disintegration” land-art and your other pieces of artistic protest. From what you have told me, your artists’ collective is important for the culture and community.…
is mightier than the sword,” he likely didn’t have the Sharpie Magnum in mind, much less its use in Sioux Falls’ own Battle for the Arts. Intended as a witty turn-of phrase, “the pen is mightier than the sword” has taken on new meaning where a Sharpie Magnum is the weapon of choice. With a keen eye, a skilled hand and a time limit, artists are wielding the mighty maker for victory in Sioux Falls own Battle for the Arts. Currently in it’s second season, Battle for the Arts began in January 2010,…
My Point of view is that Jonas and Gabriel Froze And Starved, Fell Into A dream Like A Coma. I chose that Point of View because Jonas and Gabe ran out of food and it was very rare to find any water. Which meant that Jonas and Gabe were starving with the lack of food they could find and have. Jonas and Gabriel also didn’t have the proper clothing to stay warm in all the new weather that they were experiencing. Without the proper clothing that we have now Jonas and Gabe were freezing and…
Horowitz would say, “You see how picky I am about my shoes, and those only go on my feet.” If Clueless took place in 2017 NYC, then this outfit would have been Cher’s iconic, yellow, plaid skirt-suit ensemble. This look has transcended along the ages. Plaid never goes out of style, and neither does our lookbook! Christine of Louis Reign has shared with us that, “My style is edgy with a twist. I love neutral colors and mixing vintage pieces with luxury pieces.” Her outfit screams just that!…
Whenever we hear the word “art,” instantly our minds think about master pieces that individuals have either painted, or drawn. However, I strongly believe that “art” is much more than just that. As the authors in our textbook have stated, “something becomes art when its purely utilitarian or functional nature is modified for the purpose of enhancing its aesthetic qualities and thus making it more pleasurable to our senses.” (Peoples and Bailey, Pg.345). The point they are trying to get across is…
overall, the piece uses obvious foreshadowing. The first foreshadowing event occurs when Gilgamesh experiences a series of dreams. The first dream involves Gilgamesh having…
performance with a piece titled Serashi Fragments composed by Lei Liang in 2005. The piece began abruptly out of the silence of the small audience. The four musicians each played one short, but jarring note that was subsequently followed again by the silence of the audience. The music progressed quickly from then. They began following…
once I heard The Four Seasons I knew that was the one for me. Although I really enjoyed some of the others I had a personal connection to this peace as I used to listen to it before soccer matches to calm my nerves. The Four Seasons was composed by a chamber orchestra which was led by the stunning Janine Jansen as the lead violinist. From the best that I could tell this chamber was filled with one bass, 3 cellos, a few violas and around 10 violens. The Four seasons is a polyphonic piece and…
I attended Crestwood’s 7th and 8th Grade Band Seasonal Winter Concert. The ensemble consisted of Crestwood’s 7th and 8th Grade Kentwood students. The performance was conducted by Crestwood’s music instructor, Jason Townsend. In total, there were 13 pieces performed, but 6 pieces of them were played as an ensemble. Other pieces were simply solo and ensemble music performed by 7th and 8th Grade students. Solo and ensemble pieces were “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy,” performed by A. Adhikari, Q.…
