    Soapy Gnome Case Study

    • 3 Pages

In early 2013, owner of Soapy Gnome Jennifer Frech, age 43, started a legacy by taking her soaps and other products to the Goshen Farmers’ Market. Since then, Soapy Gnome has grown into a full fledged small business. “I was working as a teacher and as everyone knows, working as a teacher is very difficult, especially in these days,” says Frech. “So I quit teaching, and I was working at Notre Dame and I was making soap as a hobby. There’s only so much soap a person can use, so my husband said ‘Why don’t you sell it at the Farmer’s Market?’ So we tried it out and we had some customers early on and it’s grown very slowly over the last four and a half years. Slowly but surely.” Soapy Gnome is far from Frech’s first business venture. “I’ve known since I was about eight years old that I wanted to run my own business of some sort, I just didn’t know what that was going to be,” says Frech. “At one point, I thought I’d be a photographer or a horse trainer. I’ve gone through a gamut of business ideas. But, personally, owning my own business have given me a lot of confidence because I’ve had to run every aspect of my business and I’m a lot more capable of things than I thought I was. It’s definitely a creative endeavour, and I’ve made a lot of great friends, especially with other business owners and people with a lot of integrity and go-getters. I’ve met a lot of incredible people and developed a lot of incredible friendships through running my own business that I wouldn’t have…

Seeing my dad behind bars for something he did not commit was surreal. What was going to be a family vacation in Mexico turned into a nightmare. The smoke coming out the cars blocked the view as we tried to figure out who was in the other car. When opening the car doors, blood dripped everywhere. My heart sunk. The difference between the sweat running through me had no exact justification, was it because of the immense heat or was I that hysterical. Sirens could be heard throughout the whole…
