    England in 1189 up until his death in 1199. Richard Nixon had a very successful life, being in the military, becoming vice president and then later on, President of the United States of America. Nixon was vice president from January 20, 1953 to January 20, 1961, with president Dwight D. Eisenhower. He then became president in January 20, 1969 up until August 9, 1974. Richard Nixon was elected to the House of Representatives in 1946, and then elected to the Senate in 1950. In 1952, Dwight D. Eisenhower chose Nixon when he was 39, to be his vice president. Nixon was nominated for President by acclamation in 1960, but he lost to John F. Kennedy. In 1968, Nixon decided to try and run again, and ended up winning and defeated Vice President Hubert H. Humphrey. Richard Nixon was then appointed as the 37th President of the United States. Some of Nixon’s most famous and honorary achievements in his presidency happened in his search for world stability. Nixon visited both Beijing and Moscow in 1972, and while there, he reduced tensions with China and the U.S.S.R. Nixon had summit meetings with the Russian leader Leonid I. Brezhnev, and they produced a treaty to limit certain nuclear weapons. In January 1973, Nixon announced to end American involvement in North Vietnam.
