Pedometers are helpful in many ways. It can encourage more walking because it tells you how many steps you have taken. The pedometer could motivate someone to set goals. Once you set goals the pedometer will allow you to adjust them. Piezoelectric and spring –le The pedometer that are spring-levered use spring-suspended horizontal lever arm that moves vertical as you walk or run. There is an electrical circuit inside the pedometer that allows the movement to register after each step. The spring-levered pedometers are required to be placed in a vertical plane, perpendicular to the ground to function. The pedometers are ineffective in a horizontal plane. A material that generates electric charge when mechanically deformed is piezoelectric. Piezoelectric pedometers use horizontal cantilevered beam that uses a weight on the end to apply pressure a piezoelectric crystal when subjects move. The movement generates voltage proportional when accelerated and the voltage oscillations calculate steps. These pedometers are functional when an individual during dancing, stair climbing, walking outdoors or treadmill, but doesn’t work during biking, skiing, rowing, or swimming. Mid Fall 2012 The plane ride here was a long one. The droning engines of the C-17 went on for hours and pierced through my earplugs. I could only feel overwhelmed and excited by what was happening. I was finally getting sent overseas after four long years of basic training. A few nervous thoughts had passed my mind about what could happen, but was soon drowned out by the engines. The passenger section of the C-17 was nothing like a civilian aircraft.
