One of the best known reliever airports for McCarran International Airport is the Henderson Executive Airport (HND) located less than 20 minutes from LAS. HND.aero (2014) states that, “as a primary reliever airport to busy McCarran, HND provides all the necessary services and amenities to make your trip pleasant and convenient” (About HND). Clark County, NV has invested millions of dollars into HND since 2006 to improve the airport, and bring it up to a standard that ensured it would be a welcome reliever airport for LAS. These improvements include a new terminal building, a stand-alone air traffic control tower, and over 90 new private aircraft hangers. Expansion currently continues as new corporate hangers are constructed with attached offices. At present, numerous small aviation businesses are located on HND, including Grand Canyon tour operators and executive passenger airlines. A good example of a general aviation airport is the airport located in Boulder City, NV. Located roughly 20 miles from Las Vegas, Boulder City sits close to Lake Mead, and is close to the Nevada/California/Arizona border area.
