    of isolation is best seen in Mary Shelley’s novel “Frankenstein” through the main character “Victor Frankenstein” ambitions/desires that have blinded him, the sickness of concealing the truth and the need to avenge which left him alone in the world. First and foremost, Victor’s ambitions and desires have deprived the character from realizing what greatness he already has in his life. For example, since youth Victor was fascinated with the works of all the alchemists but, particularly admired the works of Cornelius Agrippa, Paracelsus, and Albertus Magnus. I believe that Victor’s admiration to these alchemists have deluded and even encouraged him to cross the border of life and creating the monster. This turned Victor’s fortunate in to misery as he slowly transitions in to isolation. This is first seen in the novel when Victor was at young age of thirteen and discovered the volume of Cornelius Agrippa, who as Victor’s father “Alphonse Frankenstein” stated: “Cornelius Agrippa! My dear Victor, do not waste your time upon this; it is trash” (Shelly, pg 38). Unfortunately, instead of taking his father’s advice in to consideration, Victor completely disregards his father’s remarks and continued to inquire more on the lords of his imagination.
