In the article “Short Man Syndrome Is Not Just a Tall Story” short men say there is no such thing as "short man syndrome", but studies disagree. In the book it says “Curley’s like a lot of little guys. He hates big guys” (Steinbeck 26). Curley has what people call “short man syndrome”. He doesn't like big guys because, he isn't big and fights a lot of bigger guys. The authors main part of the article in “Short Man Syndrome Is Not Just a Tall Story” is that short men can get jealous of tall men because of strength, appearance, and success with the opposite sex (Fleming 1). “Researchers found men around 5ft 4in tall were around 50 per cent more likely to fall foul of the green-eyed monster than those measuring 6ft 6in” (Fleming 1). The green- eyed monster means jealousy so small men have 50% more of a chance to become jealous of other men. Curley, even with his attitude somehow married a women, and in the book she is referred as “Curley's wife”. Curley's wife tries to make Curley jealous by always hanging around the ranchers and wearing what she wears. She causes many problems with Curley and the ranchers, because of the way she acts.
