He does so in more ways than one, but the most obvious of the bunch is through how many more blues songs this album possess in comparison to Mayer’s other albums. When any artist sings of the blues it often implies that they are experiencing a rougher time period in their life. Within these rough patches of our lives is where one is able to truly grow as a person. Mayer did just that with Continuum. However, the true mark of maturity within this album involves more than Mayer’s rougher, darker times of growth. It also involves his ability to acquire his own sense of style. Just as any renowned painting has its own signature, any well-known artist has his own spin on things. have serious consequences. The secret adult don’t tell you when you’re a kid is that adulthood is not that much different than high school and sports. There will still be heaving things served your way, you will still be expected to deal with it, either by passing or spiking it. And then things return and you have to start all over again. When the high school band is ushered into school and the field is left with the roaring silence, the only thing that was left were the “leaves that [descended] to no drum/ and [lay] still” (Whittemore). This verse shows the reader that the less a person, place or thing is affiliated with something, the less it will affect them if the thing of matter suddenly becomes absent. Similarly, when Ayano died and her whole class was mourning the loss, Shintaro suspected that “someone might have already…

animals. Furthermore, if there were two thinking beings in the chair, person and animal, it would be impossible to say whether the thing seating in the chair is one or the other. The entity would have no idea whether he or she is a human animal or a person. In other words, according to Olson, the psychological criterion says that I am a person, but I am an animal because of the conditions there are not given by the psychological criterion. Although the argument is attractive, the conclusion is…

Emptiness can be properly seen through the understanding of Nāgārjuna’s the Perfection of Wisdom, for it proclaims that all things are truly empty. Nāgārjuna wrote the Mūlamadhyama-kakārikā, which gives the foundation to the Indian Buddhist sector of Madhyamaka in philosophical terms. His analysis in philosophy conveys his main views that all things are empty (śūnya) or devoid intrinsic nature (svabhāva). Nāgārjuna’s point in his writings is to prove that there is more to the primary Buddhist…
