    Hazel who is a sixteen year old teenager, has thyroid cancer and doesn’t really have many friends at all. Her mother makes her go to a support group with many other teenagers with illnesses. These support groups are ran by a man of the name Patrick, who is a survivor of cancer himself. Here, at these support groups Hazels begins to become friends with this boy named Augustus. Augustus is a amputee, which means he has lost one of his legs, one night after support group Augustus asked if she wanted to come see a movie at her house, and she did. On the way to his house was very scary though, because he only has one real foot and can’t tell how much acceleration hes giving the car. They begin to start to watch the movie and when it was over, he ask if they can do this again soon. So, they both give each other books and say when they finished them to call one another and they could meet up. Well Hazel really likes Augustus, and vice versa, so they both finish the book within a few days staying up very late at night to read. Soon enough they get together and begin to talk about An Imperial Affliction, a book about a girl named Anna who is going through almost the same exact thing as Hazel.
