As I walked through the noisy crowd of the high school with my hands in my pockets, I thought about the day that just went by. Today was my sixteenth birthday, and it didn't turn out too bad. My friends wished me a happy birthday, but it felt empty. I felt as if something special were supposed to happen today, but the day was plain overall. "There's still half of the day left," I told myself. The crowd of students that walked through the corridor came to a stop when the people couldn't go on because of traffic. I was behind the crowd, impatiently waiting for them to get out of my way. Just then, I heard someone call my name from a few feet behind me. I recognized the voice and my mood lit up. "Andie!" I greeted warmly as I turned around. "Hey! Happy birthday!" my newest friend told me as she hugged me.
