British people that they won’t ever surrender no matter how tough it gets and that they will keep on fighting till the end. A method Churchill used to boost the morale of the British people was imagery. In his speech to the House of Commons, which he read on the 18th June 1940, he used imagery when he said, “sink into the abyss of a new Dark Age.” This paints an image in the listener’s head of just how bad things will get if they fail and in turn makes them want to succeed and help the war…

Just this past January, my business solicitor and second father, Hanson, did me a great service and obtained my allowance to attend Harrow. Harrow is a boarding school, which only has boys, which makes me very excited indeed, as I will have fellows with which I can roughhouse (The Byron Chronology). Today is my first day at Harrow and already I have a tutor by the name of Henry Dury. He is the son of the headmaster and I feel as though I am already making connections to the top. He is quite a…

author persuades her audience in order that they will support the right to die movement. Harrow uses examples of court cases and suicides to solidify her argument. She also references the Wiccan Golden Rule, “An it harm none, do what you will” (Harrow 9). This rule is the basis of the point Harrow is proving; as long as a person does not inflict harm upon any others, they are allowed to take actions as they see fit. To help develop her argument, the author uses a very blunt tone and is slightly…

Both the “Never Give In” speech by Winston Churchill and the “Good Will Hunting” monologue delivered by Robin Williams, are similar speeches in their themes and stylistic features.
