    corporations can research and invest in an alternative to wood so we use less lumber in construction, which in turn makes sure our forests don’t get utterly depleted, as they are becoming now. I believe it is up to us, our companies and our respective governments to set in motion plans to reduce our environmental impact. I feel that greed is playing a large part in us not doing enough. Although you would be mistaken if you thought greed was the only obstacle for change. As of this moment our population is estimated to be 7 billion in which most of us eat animal meat on a daily basis. The economic footprint of raising all these animals for consumption is enormous. We must use feed and water to sustain these animals and they also produce greenhouse gas emissions. At this point it would be very difficult to convince consumers to cut down on their meat intake and to consume more eco-friendly vegetables in their diet. Animal meat is prevalent in almost every cultures main dishes, so it would be very difficult to change consumers taste without perhaps raising the price of meat or taxing it heavier. Any government who would take those controversial steps would probably not stay in power long. Hence it will be very difficult to change our environmental footprint in regards to the consumption of animal meat. To me it seems everybody wants to take the easy route. They feel our current plan is saving them time and money, but they fail to see that our path is not sustainable…
