    Despite the alarming risk and the unethical means of creating this new and over the top soldiers, the SPARTAN-II project got the green light by the top members Office of Naval Intelligence. Who all agreed that the lives that could be saved greatly outweighed the risks involved during the recruitment and training process. The project was granted funding for seventy-five children, five and six years old and of both sexes, all were kidnapped under the cover of night. To keep this program's a secret, the children were replaced by flash clones which would die soon thereafter due to numerous medical complications. After being abducted and sedated the SPARTAN-II candidates were taken to the colony world Reach. To marginalize their civilian lives, they had led, they were striped of the names and given numbered service tag, with family names being discarded. The Spartans endured a great deal of hardship during their first years of training. They were put thought situations that were made to pushed their abilities to their very limit and made to brake the weak. Their hard training was complemented with very high-level education, subjects such as mathematics, science, physics, reading, writing, and military tactics were just of a few the lessons learned during training. Although his training methodology were brutal in every regard, Chief Petty Officer Mendez always went out of his way to instill discipline, honor, and respect into is students.
