    Spanish which pushed the Spanish into the storm. Moreover, the English did not have enough supplies of ammunition or food or water for along campaign but the Spanish were equipped with enough resources to last them up to four weeks. This impacted the way the English used their ammunition. This meant that instead of bombarding the Spanish with canons they had to use their bombs wisely and therefore the English made little impact but still pushed the Spanish past Scotland. In addition, the English ships were fast and agile, which meant they could outmanoeuvre the Spanish ships. This meant they had less of a chance of getting sunk, and helped the England win as without being able to use their boats to manoeuvre in and out at the Battle of Gravelines the English would probably have lost to the Spanish. Although some people may argue that the most important reason is Weapons, resources and fighting. They would argue that the English canon was the reason the Spanish were defeated and that Phillip’s advisors told him that he would need 500 ships to succeed. Leadership is the most important factor, and Weapons, resources and fighting is necessary but insufficient in causing the defeat. This is evident by how the English actually used their tactics to fire their long distance canons so that they did not get too close to the Spanish. Leadership was important in this to suffice Weapons, Resources and fighting as the English captains made the decision using their knowledge of the Spanish…
