Last week, I attend Grace College chapel. In order further my communication skills I analyzed the audience and speaker at this chapel. Caleb Yoder was speaking. The first thing I analyzed was the demographic factors of the audience. Chapel is made up college students typically from the age seventeen to twenty-four. The school is made up of about sixty-five percent female and thirty-five male. Grace College is a christian school that has its roots in the Grace Brethren denomination; however, the colleges attendees are comprised of all denominations including some catholics and even some non-believers. Grace College has made many efforts to expand their students ethnical diversity, but unfortunately the college is made up of vast majority of white students. The next thing I analyzed was the situational factors of chapel. Chapel is consists of about fifteen hundred people. The rounded shape of the arena poses a challenge for the speaker to address the whole audience. The lighting of the stadium is very dimmed; however the stage is very well lit, which makes it difficult for the speaker to see the audience. This is a challenging thing to…
Throughout the majority of middle school and the entirety of high school, I always saw myself moving away and attending a four year university. For many years, Indiana Wesleyan University was my school of choice. Being raised in a military family, the thought alone of going to college was a daunting one, since I would be the first member to embark on such a journey. None-the-less, as senior year rolled around, I was ready to pack my bags, move into a dorm, and leave any chances of a military…
A painting by Rhonda Nyberg titled, "Grace" mainly focuses on an older gentleman who is seen in the painting. The man appears to be higher in age perhaps around seventy years old. His hair is mostly white with a few strands of gray mixed within. On his chin sits a rather large beard that covers the lower portion of his face including his upper lip. God’s grace play an important factor in how the characters react to their problem. The word ‘Grace’ is an important symbol in the story and relates to the characters in different ways. The explicator article points out that the word, ‘Grace’, is utilized as the name of the narrator’s daughter and the biblical sense for the extension of mercy, even when that mercy is unearned (Stone). In the story, Grace is dying from polio. In contrast the grace of God are the gifts and favor that he presents us…
the earlier funeral of her husband, the men all rush up to redress themselves. Already, the scene makes for uncomfortable watching to anyone who has had experience with a person who will not take to being argued with. Pushing forward, Violet asks for someone to say grace at the table before continuing the meal and as Charlie attempts to, it adds even more awkward tension to those present, as while Charlie is trying his best regardless of obviously not being used to saying grace, he has no real…

Alias Grace is a novel that forces the readers to open their minds to an offbeat century. By the end of this novel, Atwood has transformed Grace into a very intricate character who can possibly weave stories just as well as she can weave a quilt. After viewing the history of quilting, one can now connect to Grace on a more personal level to interpret why it had become an essential part of her life. Throughout the novel, quilting becomes an important motif and is perhaps the only constant…
What does the 1954 mystery thriller Rear Window in common with 2014 action comedy 22 Jump Street? At first glance, the older and newer films have very little in common. The stories they tell have no similarities. Also, the editing styles and techniques are much more complex within the newer motion picture than the older one. However, after careful inspection, both films use the same basic components to achieve their storytelling goals. A similar practice is the use of music to establish or…
