The kernel is not a fast food venor in this case but the system in which the operating system of the computer (such as Mac, Windows, Linux etc…) communicates with the cpu. What this bug has caused is a massive breach in the way this communication is happening because it has halted the communication from being coded allowing hackers to come in and destroy peoples systems. There should be a full investigation on Intel and any of the other affected chip makers and to prevent this from happening with any other chipsets in the future there needs to be government inspectors in this industry. I hope to learn why Intel/ARM chipset makers did not notice this bug and why they didn’t notify the public of this when they 1st discovered it. I also hope to…
Girl in a Band Book Review “When we came out onstage for our last show, the night was all about the boys” (Kim Gordon). This is the bold first sentence that Sonic Youth vocalist/bassist Kim Althea Gordon writes in her autobiographical memoir, Girl in a Band. The inspiration behind this liberating title is from “Sacred Trickster,” an ode to the quartet’s early 1990s high-gloss hardcore phase that appears on Sonic Youth’s final album, The Eternal. The entirety of this memoir is told from the…
Sicko, the 2007 Micheal Moore movie was created in order to show the problematic healthcare system in America and how he believes it is corrupt. Around America, many are sick and hurt every day, but many are not being allowed to get the proper medical attention. Whether it 's because the individual doesn 't have insurance, or because it doesn 't cover treatment, doctors are not being allowed to do their job in actually caring for the sick. By using pathos, logos, and ethos, Moore is able to…
The shooting at Columbine High School on April 20, 1999 was a horrific event that prompted a lot of change not only in America, but the whole world. The only thing the Columbine shooting failed to change was America’s love for their guns. Bowling for Columbine is a documentary that takes a focus on this issue and tries to find why Americans are so fascinated with guns. The film, released in 2002, won several awards and was critically acclaimed. The director and star of the documentary, Michael…
early 2000, the marches were so rare that to have a full blown concert was a huge draw of attention and attracted many bystanders who then joined the cause(RATMVEVO). On January 26, 2000, Rage Against the Machine teamed up with political film director, Michael Moore, to film a…
The male gaze is the way in which visual arts depicts women for a masculine point of view. Mulvey suggests that visual media exposes a deep-seated drive known as “scopophilia”: the sexual pleasure involved in looking. Mulvey believed mainstream movies are filmed in a certain way in order to satisfy male scopophilia. Therefore, according to this theory woman are regulated to the status of objects to be admired for physical appearance. Mulvey argues that erotic scenes in films don’t have any…
Before explaining the setting of the interview for the ethnography, I must first introduce my friend Roger, who will be my main participant in this process. Roger and I first met at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg during my first semester and we soon became friends, due to the fact that the both of us loved critiquing movies. Although his major is in Anthropology, he stated that the Big Bang Theory was one of his favorite sitcoms. Despite the series based on the physics and associated…
Bond, James Bond. The infamous phrase heard from the James Bond series. The James Bond series focuses on a fictional British Secret Service agent created in 1953 by writer Ian Fleming; who featured him in twelve novels and two short-story collections. Ian Fleming once stated, “I don't regard James Bond precisely as a hero, but at least he does get on and do his duty, in an extremely corny way.” In the nearly 50 years since he first appeared on the big screen, James Bond’s character has evolved…
Oliver Stone is a renowned filmmaker and considered one of America’s best. Like most other filmmakers, Stone attempted to capture the turbulent times of the sixties and seventies. However, unlike most filmmakers, who consistently avoiding controversial issues, Stone was determined to shine light on such issues and provide his audience with what he believes are truths. Stone openly admitted that he sometimes manipulate historical facts and footage to create an imaginative and influential film.…
Sicko Documentary by Michael Moore is a great movie and an exposure to the heretical actions of the insurance industry. It discussed that the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the United States were higher than other countries. His comparison of Frances, Cuba, Canada and the United Kingdom were correct. However, other scenes within the movie seemed over the top and lacked real evidence. I researched and I will analyze the documentary by providing facts found on the internet at my presentation.…
