Which their views mean its ok to mock someone else’s religion as long as its not “theirs”. Which stated well by Dara that they wouldn’t even know whats funny about it. This also shows how within most humor theres a part of the superiority to it, since the audience laughs at the stupid people who complained about the show as well. A second example can be pulled from Gene Weingarten’s short tale “Men, women, and driving.” Which involves his feminist scholar friend sending him a clip of a commercial as “proof” that women are better drivers. His friend Gina Barreca sole purpose of sending that comical commercial was simple, it supported her view of men being inferior drivers. Also note a commercial is one of the worst ways to prove your point with. This tale is supported by the theory of superiority; as she see its both funny and “true”. Though this also proves another point; people get defensive if the joke is shot back at them. Such as when Gene points out how Gina’s mother is a bad driver thus disproving her belief. Her response dives into excuses and a change of topics. Only to be pointed out her idea is flawed again.
