The various roles in the Boy Scouts of America are based on leadership. You have a Senior Patrol leader, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, Patrol Leader, Assistant Patrol leader, Quartermaster, Scribe, Historian, Librarian, Instructor, Chaplain Aid, Bugler. The Senior Patrol Leader is elected by the Scouts to represent them as the top youth leader. He runs all troop meetings, events, activities. He appoints other troop youth leaders with the advice and counsel of the Scoutmaster. The Assistant Senior Patrol Leader is the second Highest-ranking youth leader. He is appointed by the SPL with the approval of the Scoutmaster. He will provide leadership to other youth leaders as well. The Patrol Leader, is elected leader to his patrol. He represents his patrol on the patrol leader’s council and appoints the assistant patrol leader. The Assistant Patrol Leader is appointed by the patrol leader and leads the patrol if the Patrol leader is absent. He will also represent his patrol at the patrol leader’s council meetings. The Quartermaster keeps track of the troop equipment and sees that it is in good working order. He keeps detailed records of patrol and troop equipment, and issues equipment and makes sure it is returned in good condition. He is appointed by the Senior Patrol leader, and can apply towards Positions of Responsibility requirements for Eagle in a boy scout troop.
