    The life of Marquis De Lafayette Tanner Sheldon Honors History November 19, 2015 Mr.Miraya The life of Marquis De Lafayette Marquis De Lafayette was a huge reason why the American Colonies won the Revolutionary War. Lafayette used influence to persuade King Louis XVI; the king of France at the time of the war; to assist the American Colonies to relinquish Great Britain’s control over the colonies. At one point, Washington may have lost his position as the military commander of the colonial forces. Luckily, Lafayette had defended him and Washington was able to maintain his position ahead of the Colonial Forces. Lafayette was also a tactical genius, as it showed in the final major battle of the war known today as The Battle of Yorktown. Marquis de Lafayette was born to a high ranking family in France. Because of his family’s influence this allowed him to marry Marie Adrienne Francoise de Noailles, a close relative of the king. Lafayette later left France without the king’s permission, and went to aid the colonies in their war against Britain. After aiding in several different battles, Lafayette went back to France and convinced the king into sending troops and supplies to their new allies. This lead to the American Colonies winning the Revolutionary War.…
