Fresno Pacific university is a non-profit Christian university founded by the Mennonite Brethren Church as a post-secondary school in 1944 (Fresno Pacific University, 2016). The school’s current student population is estimated around 3500, and a majority of students are either enrolled as traditional undergraduate, Degree Completion or are in a Graduate program. The paper provides an overview of college design, how the hierarchical structure of communication works within the university and in what way the decisions are made to the success or disadvantage of the university. A recommended redesign for improved communication is described, which is grounded on the change process utilized by Kotter’s (1997) eight steps for effective change in an organization. It also discusses the feasibility of incorporating the recommendations at Fresno Pacific university. Are we Failing our Students, are we Failing Ourselves? Fresno Pacific has four major communication breakdowns that influence funding, sustainability, student growth and retention. The major constructs that contribute to the challenges are the Financial Aid department because they play a key role in understanding tuition…
landlords have also decided to bump up the prices for rent. It is easy for some to just say “These people should just get a job, maybe then they will be able to afford housing.” In reality, that is not the case, the cost of living and the wages that families and individuals get paid are not in agreement and it is even more difficult when these families are being paid minimum wage. Rent is getting more expensive, which makes it more difficult for families and individuals to make ends meet. Not…

Daniel Weintraub give demonstrations of pros and cons for a $400 million dollar project to restore the San Joaquin River Restoration (SJRR). I feel that this project stands as a waste of money for a cause expected to fail. Using Bill McEwen’s article, an ethos argument consists of several experts on the matter and famous institutions reported the impossibility of its success, for the logos side of the matter, a number of studies prove the downfall of this project, and for a pathos, the local…
The theory of dramatism can be applied to a myriad of settings and events in one’s life, but one that I can see very evident is my role as a resident assistant. A resident assistant’s job is to supervise a floor or building of residents on a college campus. They are responsible for making sure that residents have a fun, healthy and safe college experience. As an RA, there are several meetings and events that one has to attend and plan, including a weekly module meeting, small group meetings…
A recent internal report on the Fresno Police Department found that two-thirds of the officers are suffering from low morale. According to the Fresno bee, “Low morale pervades the entire culture of FPD but is particularly intense in patrol division and civilian units,” the report says. “Two-thirds of sworn officers (68 percent) and more than half of civilian employees (52 percent) believe the morale problem presents a serious or severe threat to the ability of the FPD to perform its mission”…
Introduction When a cough isn’t just a cough and may in fact be fatal. Whooping cough is that cough, the one that you should hope never to encounter. The Wichita Eagle states that there were three cases diagnosed in Kingman, county, Kansas. I wondered why this would make the news. Three cases do not sound like much to worry about, however, by the end of the article I realized this is indeed something that should be taken seriously and was indeed newspaper worthy. The article introduces us to…

I hail from a very small town (roughly 2000 people) called Walkerton in northern Indiana. My adventure started my junior year of high school. It was at this time I decided that I wanted to major in film production in college. In Indiana there is really no school that is well known for film, and I knew in order to take this career decision seriously I needed to head to California. It was after this realization that my girlfriend, a senior, mentioned she was considering Azusa Pacific University.…
Tossing and turning, I could not sleep the night before our cruise to Ensenada, Mexico. Excitement had gotten the best of me. It was the day of the cruise. We all met 5:30am sharp outside of our friend Aaron’s house. All of us carpooled together in Joey’s car and hit the road to Long Beach, California; where it is the home of the Carnival Corporation’s Long Beach Cruise Terminal. When we arrived we can see all the cruise ships that were departing that day. First we went through the terminals,…
