TRISSY NGUYEN 000751185 COMN-152 A CULTURE STAR One of the best time I felt privileged in Canada was when I dressed in Ao Dai to go to the church. Ao Dai is the traditional costume of Vietnamese people, and it is also one of the sets of clothes that I extremely like. Therefore, I often wear Ao Dai to go to the church. It happened on that Sunday as I wore Ao Dai to go to St Mary's Cathedral Calgary, in which most of Canadians attend. After the Mass, the Catholics went to the front lobby of the church to greet each other. When they saw my dress, they complimented me on my beautiful costume. I was highly privileged, honored as well as on cloud nine during that time. After that, I told this story to my family and friends with my pride. In summary, the happiness of this time is still vivid in my memory, and it makes me happy and proud of my national dress when I remember this story. It was a painful time for me because someone thought I am a Vietnamese people. Before I got the ELF program at SAIT, I had taken the ESL class in the other school and I was an only Vietnamese student. When I introduced that I came from Vietnam, the teacher seemed to treat me differently. One time, my class exchanged ideas about a lesson. As I expressed my opinion, she always said that my answers were wrong and ignored me without explanation, whereas she was kind and helpful to others.
