exhausting morning of snorkeling, we got out of the water freshly sunburnt to visit the Museo de Arte de Ponce. This was a really cool experience because you got to learn a little bit of Puerto Rican history, and you also got to see how their artwork compared to other pieces. A coffee plantation was next up on our itinerary. I do not like coffee at all, but I forced myself to try the coffee homemade in Puerto Rico because it was voted the best. I immediately regretted my decision to take a sip because the taste was very bitter, but at least now I can say that I drank Puerto Rico’s best. To get rid of the horrid coffee taste we had a fancy dinner at Restaurante Basilias. This was where I ate the best flan I have ever tasted. We then traveled to San Juan. It was finally time to visit the beach which was right across from our hotel. The beach is my favorite place to be even on cold or rainy days. I wouldn’t trade it for anything. We got to the beach, and everything was perfect. The water was a clear blue, the sun was shining, and there was no one within a mile of us. Looking back on this unique trip, the beach was one of my favorite parts. There was no rushing around or lugging backpacks everywhere, it was just me and the beach. It’s shape is a square with an empty center, and diamond shaped peers on each corner to look out on.The fort is…

members that still live there. Another reason is to see what my culture is like. One thing that I would do is try their food; the food in Puerto Rico is full of herbs and spices likes adobo and sofrito. I’ve had some things like platanos which is bananas that cannot be eaten raw. They’re fried in oil and once ready they are good with black beans and white rice. Some of their popular dishes are Lechon, Cuchifrito, Morcilla, Mofongo, Arroz con Gandules, etc. Finally, I would visit all of the…

Commonwealth. How did it become part of the United States? It became territory by and I quote, on March 2, 1917, Wilson signed the Jones-Shafroth Act, under which Puerto Rico became a U.S. territory and Puerto Ricans were granted statutory citizenship, meaning that citizenship was granted by an act of Congress and not by the Constitution. This means that Puerto Rico has no say for votes for Congress and presidential elections, just military services and some federal laws. As Puerto Rico became…
