Valley forge was a hard time for The soldiers it was cold, They didn't have shoes or clothes they were even running low on supplies. george Washington tried to help as much as possible, but it was hard for him too. the battle of valley forge took place 18 miles northwest of Philadelphia. They made their own little huts to live in but they had a little problem, it is winter and it is extremely cold, so they need heat, they made a fireplace in the huts, but the smoke wasn't going through the chimney right, so they had a house full of smoke which is bad for breathing and made their clothes smell like smoke.
