    A Rose for Emily “A Rose for Emily” is centered on an old and lonely lady who gets stuck in her timeframe. Her extremely controlling father died several years ago leaving her confused. Her house has transformed to be one of the most hideous looking homes located on the once most prestigious street within the city. Previously, the house used to be elegant and white complete with scrolled balconies. This paper will look at the literary analysis for “A Rose for Emily.” The story takes place in a small town, south of the United States. The plot of the story is divided into five parts. The first part opens at the time when Emily Grierson dies. The whole community attends Emily’s burial. The previous mayor of the town, Colonel Sartoris, had suspended Emily from paying taxes after the death of her father. So when the board members of Aldermen pay her a visit in her house, she refuses to pay her taxes and instead refers them to the late Colonel who has been dead for about a decade. In the second part, the narrator describes an event that happened thirty years earlier when Emily fought off another inquiry by the townspeople, who detected a potent smell coming from her father’s decomposing body in her house. She did not want to turn it over for burial. She eventually agrees, and a funeral takes place. Additionally, the third section involves Homer Barron. He is seen taking Emily out on Sunday afternoons, and as the affair continues, Emily goes to the drug store to buy arsenic.…
