    In 2012 there were four deaths in relation to water polo, hundreds of reported serious injuries and even more minor injuries. With a death rate of 1.06, beaten only by men's softball; a sport to be wary of is water polo because of the constant threat of injuries. Water polo is a game played by swimmers in a pool with seven players on each side. The ball used is like a volleyball thrown into the opponent's net. Sounds simple now but it is not,the game is so much more then that. Three types of players to worry about in water polo are: the fighter, the phony, and the swimmer. Imagine playing a game of water polo, the last quarter, and you're put up against him, the fighter, the guy that has already gotten a warning by the refs for drowning people, spraining arms and breaking bones. You try to fight him but he's just too strong! So for the last five minutes you struggle without making a dent and you praise the bell when it finally chimes, signaling the end of the game. Due to his massive size, nobody would want to face up against this monstrosity. He is a monster on and off the field. Often found in the gym working out, this barbarian is the person that can and will break bones when put up against him. In water polo the rules lax to the point where almost anything can happen, and people can often cause a lot of pain without fear of consequence.
