    The bulk transmission of items from areas such as eating, trends, athletics, movies, music, health, beauty, and entertainment has a major impact on many American lives. Entertainment is a luxury we may enjoy in life. The Hip Hop culture has contributed much to the entertainment we see and hear daily. I would like to specifically address the musical form of entertainment with a song by Public Enemy called “Fear of a Black Planet” (htt4). There are three different ways to interpret music; 1.) dominant, 2.) negotiated, and 3.) oppositional (Sorrells). In the dominant (hegemonic) interpretation, the decoded message is the same as the encoder meant it to be understood. “Are you afraid of the mix of Black and White We're livin' in a land where The law say the mixing of race Makes the blood impure She's a woman I'm a man But by the look on your face. See ya can't stand it” is a verse from this song. It implies that ethnic races are evolving and some people just do not agree with the blending of ethnic backgrounds.
