He is the safest place I know, he is the champion in the white hat who saves the day. This is the only way I know how to describe my husband Cory French. He is not only a protector, but a nurturer and teacher who puts his family before everything else. Cory lives his life according to his principles, he believes in honesty, hard work, leading by example, and doing the right thing. For all the years that I have known him, I have discovered many reasons to admire him. However, his patriotism and his service to our country, as a submariner in the United States Navy, fills me with pride. This is one of the many reasons I hold him in the highest regard. Cory was part of the elite submarine service. Most of the time his days consisted of endless training and standing watch, but part of his job was to climb inside of the missiles to equip them with nuclear warheads or remove them when the orders came in. It required one of the highest top-secret clearances in the navy. I asked once how many missiles are armed, and all he would say was, “Top secret, I can tell you there are 12 missiles, and each can hold 24 warheads, but I can’t tell you how many are armed.” he was sincere when he explained that this was part of his oath and he took it very seriously. We discussed his job at great lengths, the parts he could…

Composed in one night by Claude-Joseph Rouget de Lisle, “La Marseillaise” has helped to increase nationalism in France from the day it was written to present times. The original title was “Chant de guerre de l'armée du Rhin,” which translates to “War Song of the Army of the Rhine.” The mayor of Strasbourg, where Rouget de Lisle was stationed, wanted a marching song for the French army, because France had declared war on Austria. Four days after declaring war, on April 24, 1792, Rouget de Lisle…

of Germany and establish a “powerful love” of the fatherland. He wanted Germans to be seen as an eternal people whose destiny was in their own hands, and not property of the French. What is interesting about Fitche was that he characterized the German spirit as universal and cosmopolitan, not narrow and exclusive. It is important to note that Fitche’s vision of Germany did not include the unification of German states like other German nationalist would demand later. The unification of Germany…

With war come the ineludible concepts of death and casualties. Who does this war affect? Why does it exist? Surely it must be of some benefit to the insane people who started a war? When two states equally demand power, they resort to a choice that should not even exist- sacrificing manpower for fame and land. Young males, brainwashed by their schoolteachers to join the army and support their fatherland, suffer this bitter torture between life and mostly death. It is clear-cut that Erich…

During the French Revolution, on 17 July 1791, the Champ de Mars in Paris was the site of a massacre, the fusillade du Champ-de-Mars. On that day, the National Constituent Assembly issued a decree that the king, Louis XVI, would remain king under a constitutional monarchy. Later that day, leaders of the republicans in France rallied against this decision. The larger crowd was also more determined than the first. Lafayette again tried to disperse it. In retaliation, the crowd threw stones at the…

On my 8th grade year, my teacher briefly talked to us about WWII. WWII is a topic that I just won't get tire of talking about or keep learning about it. I don't specific dates or reasons or who did it, I will start talking about Adolf's Hitler life and his participation on WWII. Adolf Hitler was born in April 20, 1889 Braunau Am Inn, Austria.
