Mantilla Fate vs Choices In the play Macbeth, William Shakespeare portrays guilt is caused by what pathway you chose. Macbeth becomes a tragic hero who destroys himself because he lets his ambition, insecurity and ignorance control him and his actions. Macbeth, despite influences of the witches and Lady Macbeth, is the only one responsible for his actions. He did not have a choice whether to perform all the deeds that he did; he did have to listen to Lady Macbeth or the witches and kill King Duncan or anyone else. Shakespeare puts a lot of importance on the fact that Macbeth was just a puppet controlled by the witches prophecies and his wife, but like any human being, had enough choice to influence the pathway of their lives. Ambition can be a good thing, but too much can lead on to suffer due to his actions. Macbeth is shown is a courageous hero of Scotland but his ambition gets the better of him. He is willing to kill anyone who becomes a threat to him, including king Duncan and his good friend Banquo. When the witches gave the prophecies: All hail Macbeth! hail to thee, thane of Glamis! All hail Macbeth! hail to thee, thane of Cawdor! All hail Macbeth! that shalt be king hereafter! (1.3.48-50), he already…
