Anne Frank once said, “The final forming of a person’s character lies in their own hands.” This belief would also be shared by Jeanne Wakatsuki, the author of Farewell to Manzanar, who was forced into an internment camp and shares similar experiences with Anne. Anne Frank and Jeanne Wakatsuki were both affected by wars that changed their lives forever. Although their living conditions differed greatly, they both became influential educators on how wars can change lives.
