    Special Gem Research

When shopping for jewelry, you have probably experienced the overwhelming excitement of searching for that Special Gem; the one specifically made for you. With an infinite combination of gems from diamonds to jadeite and everything in between, how do you recognize whether to pick a diamond from a colored gem? Usually you walk in with several ideas, while trying to leave without having buyer’s remorse. It can be like walking into a fancy restaurant unable to decide between Lobster and Steak. The key to this tricky conundrum is research; figuring out how to determine the ideal gem for you. The easiest way to do this is by examining the durability, phenomena, and cut of both diamonds and colored gems, so that if you were asked to pick between a diamond and a colored gemstone, you would know color beats diamond every time. Diamonds, although the hardest natural material on earth, being fifty-eight times harder than anything else in nature, is indestructible having limitations just as any other gem does. But what they do not realize is that the durability of a gem is not just about the hardness but is a combination of a gemstone 's ability to withstand wear, heat, and chemicals as defined by its Hardness, Toughness, and Stability. The durability of a jade is in many ways better than that of a diamond. A good…

As 1941…

Madness is a dual-faceted state of being that William Shakespeare uses to mold his protagonist in his play Hamlet. In this play, the tragic hero, Hamlet, shows signs of insanity that can be perceived as either genuine or a façade; he initially feigns madness in order to conceal himself, but as the play progresses and becomes more chaotic, he appears to lose his grasp on sanity. However in both instances, Hamlet’s madness conceals the inner struggle he has with both hiding and exposing his…

In my third reflection paper I will summarize my beliefs of the multiple facets of dualism and in particular about epiphenomenalism. Epiphenomenalism is viewed as a type of property dualism and is basically the idea that mental events are caused due to physical events in the brain. In other words, the mental emerges from the physical! To better understand this idea I thought that the idea of fear would be interesting to look at. According to epiphenomenalism it is not fear, which makes your…

Individual cultural facets can influence an individual's access to healthcare, treatments, and outcomes. Pistuka et al. Two facets of American character and culture that I believe to be of most significance are racism and violence. Both of these characteristics are present throughout all the chapters covered so far very frequently, and make up a good portion of the history of the United States of America. In the first chapter covered, chapter eighteen, the idea of western expansion and oppression of Native Americans is the main idea. The facets I want to talk about, racism and violence, are obviously present in…

As the drama ensues, the pacifistic and caring Benvolio and the violent, militant Tybalt develop into foils of one another. Benvolio, a…

For the first part of this assignment, my task was to observe, listen, and evaluate two very important facets of the library experience, the library environment and the staff’s interactions within that space. With that noted, my personal goal was simply to pay attention. This goal might seem small, but whenever I visit a library, my attention is usually focused on some question that needs to be answered and I remember little about my experience outside of the information I was looking for. A…
