The present study is concerned with whether or not faces have an advantage over detailed objects in a recognition task. An advantage for faces over objects could serve useful adaptive and social functions, as well as fill a gap in the literature and lend insight into facial recognition after a crime. Should faces have an advantage over objects, it may give insight into how visual information is processed in order to achieve survival and social goals.
