This assignment will discuss how victims are placed at the centre of attention in police procedurals, and the theories used to assist these shows in helping them to put emphasis on the victims being the most important after a crime has taken place. A police procedural is a subgenre of detective fiction which attempts to convincingly illustrate the activities of a police force as they investigate crime. Over the years these procedurals have become more prominent and the most watched shows on TV, and victims are being prioritized as number one as they are shown to be the ones mostly traumatized at the aftermath of a crime. These shows also use several ways to make the show seem realistic. Firstly, by the use of authenticity, the location of the show, the procedure and then naturalistic filming style, and showing corruption within the drama, finally implementing cultural values within these procedurals. Victims are placed centre stage in several police shows, one being Law and Order, this show deals with real life crimes and detectives who investigate sexually based crimes. Many of the victims shown in the series are all women, and a minority are men. This can be seen in many shows and all over the internet. Women are mostly concentrated on when a crime has occurred and this will be discussed later in this essay. Moving on, because the commander in this show had a difficult past of rape, she was very sympathetic toward each victim, therefore this supports the fact that victims…

Andy condemns this incident on the Guardians. Anyhow, he begins to question his self for the motive behind his pain that he is experiencing at this moment. He ponder “…if the Guardians who had ambushed him and knifed him had ever once realized he was Andy… had they stabbed him, Andy or had they only stabbed the jacket and the title and what good was the title if you were dying” (Hunter, 40-41). Consequently, Andy encounters an inner conflict within himself as a result of his identity. Through…

Kurapika had no idea how long he lay in Leorio’s arms, winded and trembly, listening to the soft whir of the ceiling fan overhead. It couldn’t possibly have been for more than a minute or two — and yet, to him, it was as if a probable eternity had passed, and in that eternity Leorio had shown him that there were stars lurking just behind his eyelids. Kurapika propped himself up on one elbow, a little alarmed by how tired he was, and raked his sweaty bangs off his face with a strengthless hand.…

doing things. Another way would be to increase food productivity by farming more efficiently. Better preparation of the soil would help increase the yield of a crop, and deeper digging and turning of the soil is part of soil improvement. The digging stick developed into a hoe with a cutting edge, and the hoe evolved into a plough, which dug a deeper and continuous furrow. Even a simple plough was nearly impossible for one person to manage. Working a plough required two people, one to pull, and…

Plays present a unique approach to story telling over typical novels. The little things, like the use of stage directions can dramatically alter the interoperation when reading a play. This gives the author a lot of power to tell a great story and have control over its interpretation. One of my favorite examples of a well written play is “The Farnsworth Invention” by Aaron Sorkin. This play is a fiction interpretation of the battle of inventing television. You have boy genius Philo Farnsworth…
