after learning that it can burn up and be destroyed if not done correctly. I have always been fascinated by the idea of space how the travel back works. I really gain interest in space and the ship itself after watching the film Apollo 13 based on the ship malfunction on the Apollo 13 mission in 1970. In the film, the crew had to guide the ship perfectly in the correct angle and direction to enter the atmosphere correctly. If they missed the angle, they would have burned up and died. This concept was fascinating to me, and that is why I found this study interesting to do. As technology evolves over the years, more space organizations have been founded to further the knowledge of space and the transportation too. One group, ESA (The European Space Agency), founded in 1975 is working on a prototype of a suborbital reentry vehicle to validate reusable launch shuttles. This prototype named the Intermediate eXperimental Vehicle (IXV), was launched on February 11th, 2015. The ESA have been continuously working on this vehicle since the launch. What makes the IXV unique and different is the shape of the vessel and the added functions to improve navigation and heating. The shape of this vessel is a long and has a look of a shoe. The IXV rotates its body to allow for the front bottom to receive the friction and heat. At the tailend of the ship, are two flaps that help to navigate the ship and collect heat as well. The ship on February 11th, carried 300 sensors and an infrared camera…

A NASA astronaut recently completed a year in space as part of NASA’s “Twin Study” (Gushanas). The University of Hawaii at Mānoa sponsors a Mars simulation facility in a desolate region of Hawaii (Hawaii Space Exploration Analog and Simulation). The European Space Agency (ESA) directed a 520-day long simulation throughout 2010 and 2011 meant to closely match conditions on a long-term Mars mission (Directorate of Human Spaceflight). In the near future, when humans voyage to Mars, society will…

people in NASA and other space agencies, also jobs for the companies that produce the metal and other materials needed by the agencies. Space travel plays such a large role in employment that Elizabeth Howell from Universe Today said, “...the space shuttle’s retirement, which prompted a job loss so massive that NASA had a ‘transition strategy’ for its employees and contractors.”(Howell). Also, universities have many researchers and students working on NASA based projects, giving them a pre-look…
