order went through, I got the album on iTunes. From then on, I don’t think I’ve gone a week without listening to at least one song from the soundtrack. I’ve realized over time that I have a knack for memorizing lyrics to songs, and I’ve memorized the lyrics to almost every song on the soundtrack. Singing along is a whole different story. Sometimes I try to convince myself I can sing, but I always realize that I cannot (at all). Now, I’m a little off track. Anyways, that assignment help me a lot. I started to realize how important books and stories can be, even if I don’t necessarily like them. I haven’t liked every book or short story we’ve read this year, but I’ve learned a lot from each one of them. In the short story, “Marigolds,” Eugenia Collier tells the story of a young African-American girl, Lizabeth, as she transitions from adolescence to womanhood in Maryland during the Great Depression. Throughout the story, Lizabeth and Miss Lottie, a very poor old woman, experience hope in similar ways.
