The Last Lecture is a joint collaboration brought to the world from the minds of both Randy Pausch and Jeffrey Zaslow that made its debut in early 2008. The book reached the New York Times Best Selling list, and stayed for about 112 weeks, which explains the 4.23/ 5 rating received from Goodreads. The book is based on "Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams", the last lecture, Pausch was able to perform back in September 2008. The book is essentially about a university professor who summarized what he has learned throughout his career to a vast audience. This book is a dose of pure life, as well as a compendium of life experiences. Pausch's story is the life of a middle aged man shocked by devastating news; he has been diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer, and has about six months to live. However, despite the lugubrious situation, Pausch opened up his world, guided, and accompanied his readers through the story of his life and how he realizes that despite his inevitable death, he was somehow still able to fulfill his dreams. The book is filled with life lessons that range from love, life, personality, and community. Pausch, an engineer, takes lessons from his life that he yearns to pass on to his very young three children and his students. He is a man who has accomplished some impressive feats throughout his life, so that lends credibility to what would otherwise be solid, wise advice. Pausch explores, throughout the book, the theme of achieving your own childhood…

For nearly twenty years, I’ve been told of a place just outside of Toronto described to me as a gamer’s paradise. “Playdium” has been a part of my life, that up until now, I haven’t had a chance to actually experience. It is a year-around entertainment center with a variety of arcade style games and attractions. After two decades of repeated rumblings about the arcade from friends, game store clerks, and forum users, I finally decided to visit this so called paradise. After my experience I can…
brightly lit, eight-tile hallways of Center High School are littered with students sitting cross-legged while a pair of white, Apple headphones protrude from their ears. In addition, the student’s faces almost look as if the grim reaper has stolen their soul and locked it in a gloomy closet only to be released after 12:12 PM. Students have always plagued the CHS hallways; however, the number has increased dramatically this school year. CHS students simply lack engagement during flex lunch. The…

Americans are becoming too dependent on computers “The technology is rewiring our brains,” said Nora Volkow, director of the National Institute of Drug Abuse and one of the world’s leading brain scientists (Nora Volkow). The extensive use of computers and other technology can cause fractured thinking and lack of focus.
