If you were a sports fan in Hartford the day of my birth you had probably traveled to Dell Rapids the night before to see the West Central Boys basketball team. The Trojans, who defeated the Quarriers 76-68, were lead by Tucker Hansen, who had 23 points (“West Central 76, Dell Rapids 68” 4C). Also from around the Sioux Empire the police were searching for the driver of a truck that hit a pedestrian. The driver of truck hit a man from behind on 31st Street North and between Cliff and Van Eps avenues (“Police seek driver who hit pedestrian” 1D). The Brandon Valley school was also looking to receive bids to begin building a new, $4.5 million auditorium. The school was expecting to get enough donors to pay for the entire project in full (David Kranz 1D), they did, in fact, receive the bids and I have actually visited the auditorium to take in a musical. Just a little north and to the west in Howard, a woman who had just bailed her husband out of jail was then shot and killed by her husband along with their son. Rick Hill shot and killed his wife, Carolyn Hill, and their son, Brad Hook, before then shooting himself in the head to take his own life on February 9,1998 (Michael Ridgeway 1A). In…

badge at work reads: Jodi Enloe RN, CNOR and just underneath that it states that I work in Perioperative Services at Providence Medford Medical Center. I wear that badge five days a week, eight hours per day, and more often than I’d like, late into the nights or early mornings on call-back. I am an OR nurse, and from what I hear from my peers, a pretty decent one as I have been at for going on 13 years now. My journey to where I am now was definitely not without extreme effort and sacrifice.…

I’M THE MAN In August of 2002, I stepped on the campus of William G. Enloe Magnet High School with an unrealistic perception. Nike Air Force Ones, baggy jeans and long white tees were a staple in my daily attire. With 360 waves spinning around my head and a flip phone in my pocket, I used to say, “I’m the man.” Young and naive, I fell into a closed mindset that revolved around obtaining material things and satisfying the egos of family, friends and myself. Purchasing expensive clothes all were a…

I heard that there are different formats of essays so I expect to learn all of them and use it accordingly. Similarly, I assume that presentations are common in any subjects. I anticipate in learning the different ways to effectively deliver messages to the audience. Another style of writing I would likely use is team collaboration. I personally expect a lot of fun with team assignments because there were not much of them during my high school years. I would enjoy sharing ideas and arguing…

college I would attend and would I be able to succeed. I imagined how collage would be, would I attended a large university or a small local community college. Students may even worry about the ACT and SAT and how successful will they be when taking those two extremely important tests. Luckily, I choose a school that didn 't stress me out about those test scores. I choose Lakeland Community College. It was the fall of two-thousand and fifth-teen my senior year in high school! With so many…

same story told in the past, and I share his position. Though I concede that it is difficult to transition to new procedures, I still maintain that it is necessary for public education to change paradigms in accordance to the changing generation. For example, a student may lose all motivation to go to school once he learns that a college degree does not always mean a job. Although he already dislikes spending countless hours at school, he may be turned away completely if he is told he needs a…

Being a freshman in high school is extremely hard , especially when all your friends went to a different high school. Meanwhile at Butler High all my friends are happy reunite with one another , have class and lunch together. The feeling of being alone sucked. A couple weeks into school they had volleyball tryouts. I decided to go since I knew how to play. Tryouts lasted…

It 's your big day!” yelled my Mom. A moan came dribbling out of my mouth as if going to school was the same as being put in a death camp. I got ready, but very slowly. I had to be in class at 8:00 or I would be late. Mom said we needed to leave the house by 7:40. Misty was very excited about going to school which she loved. I on the other hand had no business being at school. I still tried hard, hard enough to make A’s at least. “Out the door” Mom yelled. I could hear the garage door raise.…

When I picture my future, the most prominent aspect of it is my happiness. The most probable source of my happiness would have to be finally believing I’ve done something great, something generating that gratifying feeling of “I made it”. I’m very fortunate to be able to say that throughout just about all of my school career, I’ve always known I wanted to work in a business-related profession and achieve success. Knowing that I want to pursue a prosperous career in this field, I have involved…
