On Thursday December 7th, I attended a professional lecture at Montclair State University Campus from Takeo Kanade. The lecture was apart of the Roboto-San series on campus which discussed the history and changes in robotics from the personal experiences of Dr. Kanade. The Lecture was known as The Future of Robotics: A Multicultural Perspective from My Fun Research in Computer Vision and Robotics which displayed his personal opinions on how robotics has advanced. Takeo Kanade gave his own…
Across the United States, there is a huge demand for women of all ages in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) based careers. Many corporations have created programs to help generate more interest in women, especially at a young age. Learning the basics of STEM, demand for engineers, and programs for women have been essential to the development of keeping the attention from women. Consequently, the problem for a career in secondary education in math is the lack of interest…
harder science ones like Chemistry or Biology. I also did not go to the Health Science tables. This event made me very excited about the PPE Major. I went to the “What’s in a Major” events for Computer Science, Physics, and PPE. I did not go to Engineering because it was not yet on my radar. The Computer Science advisor was very nice and made me very excited about Computer Science. She especially liked pointing out the combined majors and the possibility of putting different things together.…
Building consent and resource consent documentation and territorial authority stages prepared and managed There won’t be any work on your construction project unless you have the building consent and some other needed consents, such as resource consent. There are four stages that contribute for a construction project. Making a good application is very important if you need a building consent. By making good plan and right research, may also benefit in accelerating consent handling and approval…
I’ve always wanted to be an inventor long before I found Engineering. I wanted to be someone who made the coolest of things and made so many people happy. I dreamed big as a kid, always getting lost in my little world of imagination. Growing up has changed some things for me. I still aspire to be an Inventor of sorts, but I want to do it better through becoming a world class Engineer. A world Class engineer would be able to effectively make goals and stick to them to strengthen their effect; the…
From a young age, Brendan Ciecko had the idea that he was going to do something related to “technology, music, culture, art, and the intersection of all these various areas.” As a nine or ten year old, he loved filling notepad after notepad with illustrations and entering his drawings into contests. As he got older, he became fascinated with designing and developing technology for the entertainment sector. At the young age of thirteen, he started his first company as a means to break into the…
I was born in Birmingham, Alabama in 1964. I was given the name Charles David Neely at birth, but I never use the name "Charles David" if I can help it. My preferred name of choice is Dee, which I chose for several reasons. The primary reason being that is part of my self-definition as a I transition to being something different. However, the name Dee, generally, is a matter of convenience chosen for being part of a blended family. Dee is short for David, Daddy, Dee and makes it easier for the…
I dreamed as a kid, like many others, of being a nurse or a doctor when I grew up. I loved the idea of giving shots and wrapping up broken bones. Fixing medical issues seemed cool. After all, there’s an injury, and as a nurse or doctor you have to solve it. Problem solving seemed to be my forte. Yet somehow, I wasn’t completely satisfied. I kept forcing myself to think, “This is what I want. This is going to be great.” I started to outgrow my love the medical field. In my junior year of high…
Emory University Given your knowledge of Emory University, describe what unique resources, experiences, or opportunities you hope to take advantage of as a student here. (250-650 words) Emory University attracts me most for its abundant researching opportunities provided for the undergraduate students because research is central for in-depth learning of every discipline. There is survey showing that over half of the undergraduates have the opportunity to work with faculty on research program…
I recently visited the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco to gain a new perspective on what we learned in Anthropology this semester. In this paper I will be discussing the Human Origin exhibit that is currently being shown at The Academy of Sciences and how it relates to all that I have learned this semester. This particular exhibit shows the various physical forms that hominins took as they evolved over 4 million years ago. I loved being able to see in person the actual skulls on…
