Journal Entry 2 – Economics – By Kyra Cameron This article by Ian Austen is about explaining the damages caused by the fires in Fort McMurray, Alberta to the Oil Sands industry, leading to a negative effect on the Canadian Economy. During the fires in Fort McMurray many oil companies slowed down or stopped pumping oil and production stopped by approximately 1 million barrels a day. In an entry in the Journal of Economic Perspectives written by Alan Krueger and Jitka Maleckova, this topic is examined. Researchers obtained information from failed Palestinian suicide bombers and found a much different result than what most people would assume. It was found that individuals who carried out suicide bomb attacks for terrorist organizations are less likely to come from poverty-stricken families. It was also apparent that these individuals are more likely to have completed high…

Having never done a journal in a class before, I assumed at the beginning of the semester this was going to be just another monotonous assignment. After a couple classes, the daily journal grew on me. My journal allows me to think through the items we discuss in class and flush out all of my analysis. I stand in the stationary section of Walmart looking at journals. The shelves tower over me as I take in the possibilities that await for me on this quest. The journals that catch my eye are not the standard compositions, but the red ones, blue ones, and the colorful Lisa Franks. I continue to the pens; only the most colorful would do. research sources that I’ve come across in the past month or so doing research for our Individual Endeavor. However, I am not writing to draw conclusions and create a thesis statement. Rather, I plan to dive deep into what makes each piece of writing what it is, from its audience, genre, situation and medium. Trust is something that’s automatically given to the client who is seen as the sole contributor of being able to solve his or her own problems without the assistance of direct intervention. Now, when I first heard of this therapy I immediately thought. “So, what exactly does the therapist do again?” It turns out that the therapist’s job…
