It’s hard to tell where to start when it comes to my experience with SEI. As I reflect on this class and my own career there has been real dichotomy of sorts. In the first half of my career I spent in a very culturally diverse community of Stoughton which had a very high ELL population with little no built in supports for teachers. In the second half of my career in East Bridgewater, there is a very low level of ELL’s with much more support. The biggest take away that I have from this course…
The first week of CAB 100 being taught by Professor Bailey was very interesting, yet fun and exciting. The first activity the class did was an ice breaker where every student grabbed as much toilet paper tissue as they desired, but the catch was the student had to tell something about themselves equal to the amount of toilet tissue they grabbed. For the second part of class the professor introduced herself to the class. At this point she then told the class about herself and why we all were…

Richard & Lockhart (1994) point out that to distinguish a lesson from other speech events, the lesson should have a recognizable structure, which starts with an evident open activity that engages the students; it moves on a series of teaching and learning activities until it reaches a conclusion. Richard & Lockhart (1994) suggests that the teacher should do something to engage the students what was evidenced in the observed class. The Educator opened the lesson asking two questions in Spanish…

Ultimately, self-assessment is essential, as it puts the pupils in charge of their own learning and they develop a deeper rather than surface understanding (Harrison & Harlen, 2006; Harlen 2007, and Black & Harrison, 2004). Review of teaching and learning For study, a mixed…
(1) The training began by Taylor, the CERT Peer, introducing herself. She gave a brief overview the services CERT provides and the different type of coaching sessions available for students. The module I attended focused on conflict styles. She initiated the coaching by asking how I define. I told her conflict is between two interdependent people who have a disagreement over something. She then gave me the more technical definition and asked how I view and handle conflict. Once finished…
1. “One of the most important and often ignored aspects of reading assessment is the affective domain—that is, interest, attitude, and motivational factors related to reading success” (Flynt & Cooter, 2014, p. 31). The interest inventory gives the examiner access to information that can not be gleaned through a formal cognitive assessment. An interest inventory gathers information about “students’ background knowledge, interests, and motivations as related to reading” (Flynt & Cooter, 2014, p.…
According to Mandia Mentis, Dunn-Bernstein, and Martene Mentis (2008), mediating self-regulation involves teaching students to use metacognition to enable choosing appropriate responses to a given stimulus, to assess their own behavior, and to make adjustments when needed. That being said, Math Block is a technique particularly ripe with opportunity for mediation of self-regulation. In Math Block, behavior adjustments require restraining the impulse to give the first answer that pops into their…
