Authenticity is supposed to have a moral and motivation to do the right thing. I often see authenticity as sometimes black and white but then again sometimes I see it as shades of grey throughout the situation. When I look at person and they have done wrong but yet something good came out of it I see it as shades of grey. Yes, they have done something wrong, but it came with a good outcome. Authenticity has diverse meanings and definitions but I think authenticity means having integrity, having factual evidence, and having loyalty. First, you must have integrity when trying to be authentic. In the book Authenticity the article “When False Representations Ring True” by Katie Davis, Scott Seider, and Howard Gardner it explains how this lady got a job with MIT and come to find out she lied about her resume and how many degrees she had. They fired her and she was no longer aloud to work for MIT. What is hypocritical about this lady is that she worked in the admissions office where she looked at applicant’s resumes and cover letters and decided who would get to talk to the dean or just not get in at all. She had no integrity herself because she also fabricated her resume. So, when she looked at student’s resumes and thought they fabricated their resumes she would decide that they would not get in or have a chance to talk to the dean of admissions (205-223). I think for her not having integrity to be truthful on her own resume she shouldn’t have kept the- job. I understand she…

The Graduate The sequence that I have chosen for analysis is the scene after the party and Dustin is moping in his room, until he puts his hand in the fish tank to pull out his keys. The scene begins with Mrs. Robinson bursting in on Benjamin. The sound of the door is quite loud in the small space, making it much more intrusive than it might normally have been and possibly drawing a metaphor about her entry not just into his room but into his private life. Her voice is totally calm…

The show centered around Clay Jensen, a college student who received 13 tapes narrated by his friend Hannah Baker. In those tapes she explains the different reasons as to why she had taken her own life, the driving force behind the entire show. Introduction Recently I have read an online article called, “Have Smartphones Destroyed a Generation?” written by Jean M. Twenge. Twenge states, “I’ve been researching generational differences for 25 years, starting when I was a 22-year-old doctoral student in psychology” (Twenge). She goes on in the article to state her opinion about smartphones and to support it in a variety of ways. Quoting and…

as can be seen through the generational, and how Dustin Hoffman’s character acts towards each. This movie came out towards the end of the 1960’s when the social/cultural structure was beginning to change. there unfounded. One of the major strategies used in this film to help promote the war was the overall theme of making the war believable. This theme was used throughout to help string the general public along into believing the war and its events were happening. One example of the extreme reliance on the theme in this film was when they created songs to honor the war and Sargent Schumann. These songs united the general public into specifically believing that the war was happening, and that…
