Currently, mental issues lead to various concerns among individuals, which impact their daily life and bring tremendous negative outcomes to them. As of today, various types of mental disorders are listed in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders-V (DSM-V). Among all these disorders, personality disorder is one of the main types of disorder that impact individuals, and more specifically, the antisocial personality disorder (ASPD) is one of the common personality disorders in…
Bring it on. When people think about a typical cheerleader, they always think short skirts, loud voices, and tons of energy. Cheerleaders are not just spirited people in uniform. Cheerleaders are commonly seen on the sidelines of a football game. They normally not thought of as a sport because they cheer for another sport playing like football. Some people may argue cheer is a hobby and not a sport. However, competitive cheerleading is different from sideline cheerleading. Sideline cheerleaders…
Paige Bloskas WRIT 101-Section 112 Dr. Kerstin Rudolph Is Cheer a Sport? Many people today debate wether cheer is a sport or not. Some people stereotype a cheerleader as merely being a woman standing on the sidelines of games looking perfect, shaking their pom poms, holding signs and yelling chants for football players. However, there is more to cheer than just that. Even if girls standing on sidelines cheering at football games is not a sport, there is also a competitive side of cheer. This…
Cheerleading Debate Cheerleading is a sport, and I can finish this debate once and for all. This debate has been long talked about and I’m here to finish the debate. Cheerleading is a sport and here is a couple of reasons why, including a counter to counter arguments. I will, without a doubt, prove my point. This activity is a sport and injuries can continue if this is not taken into account. Cheerleaders work hard and compete, these are two key elements of a sport. I went to search on…
Have you wondered the reasons for making a sport? For example, if you play soccer, do you know what lead to you making the team? Years or practice? I researched some of the reasons why I think I made the cheerleading squad at my high school. I believe that taking dance lessons, stretching, rehearsing dances and cheers, and my academic record lead up to me making the cheer squad, something I enjoy doing on my freetime. Having experience in something can help you in the long run. I have been…
This year the Rock Port High School football and basketball cheerleaders hosted a cheer clinic for elementary girls. Preschool through sixth grade girls were invited to attend cheer camp. The cheerleaders made up a dance for the girls to learn during the practices. The elementary girls had practice on Saturday, October 1st; Thursday, October 6th; and Friday, October 7th. The girls performed that Friday night during the halftime of the football game. The little cheerleaders performed two cheers,…
All-Star cheerleading should be considered a sport. Cheerleading is one of the most physically demanding activities that's not considered a sport, but should be. All-Star is a combination of dance, gymnastics, and motions. All-Star cheer is highly competitive. All-Star cheerleading requires participants to be physically fit. Cheerleading requires the strength similar to a football player because you will have to use your upper body strength for stunting. All-Star also requires endurance…
It is 3:30 in Wichita Kansas. My last class just ended and I am currently changing to go to cheerleading practice. I attend Heights High School which is not a school that is familiar with mediocracy. Almost every sports team including basketball (men’s and women’s), football, wrestling, and even bowling at Heights High School had been winning state championships so of course our cheerleaders could not be any different. Heights high school cheerleader had been known around the city for being…
As my second level 1 Fieldwork, I chose to volunteer for the Raleigh County Special Olympics Cheerleading team. There were four cheerleaders whose deficits ranged from Down syndrome, psychological, speech, low muscle tone, also across the autism spectrum. In which, Cheerleading enhances the following: attention span, comprehension, organization, sequencing, increased endurance, postural control, and increases social skills. Over a course of a month we gathered to participate in the learning of…
Determination without limits Ever since I was 10 I've been immensely involved in cheerleading. Even though my cheerleading routine is only two minutes and thirty seconds long we practice eleven months of the year and roughly 10 hours a week. I'm now 17 ,and I put seven years of hard work and determination into cheerleading. Without Cheerleading, I would never be in the successful position in my life that I'm currently in. Cheerleading taught me about teamwork, leadership , and perseverance ,…
