In order to achieve the peace that Europe craves I have ranked the countries based on their decisions of Poland in the following way: Austria, Britain, Russia, Prussia, France. Austria proposes that “The only solution is to return to the partition of 1793…”. Returning to the Partition of 1793, it would restore Polish territories to the original owners and balance the the power in Eastern Europe. ( Hill). I believe that this is the best possibility because, Poland is too big of a country to give to one King, balance must come in the form of equal land acquisition. Britain would like Poland to become independent, and retain the borders of the Napoleonic grand duchy of Warsaw (Zamoyski 161), also Poland would have the backing of Britain. Poland would be left defenseless because as Britain mentioned, they are impartial because of their geography. Russia felt they deserved Poland because they burnt their own land, which helped defeat Napoleon. I feel as though that Russia burnt their own land to save themselves, not aid their “allies”. Also Russia can not have Poland because then Russia would have more power than the other countries. Prussia, was okay that Russia got Poland because they got one third of Saxony with Russia’s help. France is in last place because they did not mention Poland, and they do not deserve to have any decision on what is to happen with Poland. Peace is the only objective and…
