    you see a physician. Doctors use various ranges of motion test in order to diagnose an anterior cruciate ligament injury. One method commonly used to determine whether one has an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is the Lachman Drawer Test. The Lachman Drawer Test compares the degree of looseness in the knees. All ACL injuries, irrespective of age, the Lachman test were 81.8% sensitive and 96.8% specific; The data support an accurate preoperative diagnosis in ACL deficient knees when the Lachman and pivot shift tests are positive, and essentially rules out this type of injury when these tests are negative. (Fingeroth,Katz,1986). In order to perform this test, the patient must start in a supine position, and then flex the knee at 15 degrees, examiner must use one hand to stabilize the distal femur and the second hand firmly grabs the proximal tibia of the same leg. If the doctor suspects that the Lachman Drawers test was positive, they will order a M.R.I of the knee, which is a magnetic resonance dimensional picture of the knee .Depending on an athlete’s physician, he/she may also preform other special test on an athlete for example: the anterior drawer test or the pivot shift to determine the looseness in the injured ligament. The anterior drawer sign, although widely used, is a poor diagnostic indicator of ACL injuries, especially in the acute setting (Fingeroth, Katz 1986).
