The Last Thirteen Introduction- “I can’t run anymore.” The race is ending. Sam Williams makes a scandalous discovery about the last 13 that will change everything. This appalling discovery will bring out the worst in the last 13. This is a race which is more terrifying than Sam’s nightmares. With the world about to crumble, and their enemies approaching closer, it is up to the last 13 to carry through the prophecy. Whether the last 13 come back dead or alive, it is up to them to stop all this insanity, and to protect the world from coming apart. During the book, Sam and Alex are portrayed as young teenagers who constantly get involved with each other. Both, Sam and Alex are loyal friends to each other as well as everyone around them, and they’re both members of the last 13. These two characters are loyal to each other because, near the end of the book, when the last 13 are about to die, they all come in front of each other to save one another. The “Ghost Clock” is a fascinating piece of artwork, done by the modern sculptor and furniture maker Wendell Castle.
