Pilgrimman Half Ironman Well its official! On Sunday, September 20, 2015, I completed my first half ironman distance triathlon at Myles Standish State Forest in Plymouth, Massachusetts, and it was awesome! I loved it all!!! If you told me last year that I’d be racing a half ironman distance triathlon, then I’d say, “That’s crazy. There is no way that I would do a half ironman triathlon.” So who made me change my mind? My personal trainer and friend, Nilton Motta, said that he wanted me to do the Pilgrimman Triathlon as my first half ironman. At first, I thought he was crazy, but he believed in my ability to compete at this level, and I trusted him completely. So after thinking it over for a bit, I believed it myself so I happily signed up for the Pilgrimman Half Ironman. I felt confident in my bike and run disciplines, but knew that I would need to increase my mileage in order to complete this race in its entirety. My apprehension was the swim because I had a hard enough time completing a 1/4 to 1/3 mile swim during the sprint races that I had competed in for the past few years, never mind completing a 1.2 mile swim, but I had about 10 months to prepare for it. So I spent the winter in the pool swimming back and forth, forth and back working on my stroke and endurance. I also spent many hours biking indoors using a bike trainer. In addition to swimming, biking and running, I also performed high intensity interval training twice a week. When the weather started…

Brian Klugman and Lee Sternthal make their directorial debut in the 2012 romantic drama The Words, starring Bradley Cooper, Dennis Quaid, Zoe Saldana, Olivia Wilde, and Jeremy Irons ("The Words"). Unfortunately for the audience, the starpower of this film can not make up for the unnecessarily complex plot and disappointingly anticlimactic finish. The story begins with Clayton Hammond (Dennis Quaid) reading his new book, The Words to an audience. The book focuses on the protagonist Rory…

In 1992 David Fincher made his directorial debut with Alien 3. Fincher’s film was the third entry in the Alien franchise following the critically acclaimed films Alien and Aliens directed by Ridley Scott and James Cameron, respectively. Unfortunately, Alien 3 was poorly received by moviegoers, as well as Fincher himself. There was studio interference in the making of Alien 3, so much so that Fincher has disowned the film and to this day still does not consider it his film. David Fincher…

Gear, or Call of Duty. It’s understandable when a resoundingly popular game series, like Assassins Creed or Uncharted, enters into film production – but for the lesser-appreciated Hitman saga, it hardly makes sense to take such an unadvisable risk to create another installment. After all, it’s not as though the franchise’s previous film, Hitman (2007), did major box office business. In fact, it was far from…

Quentin Tarantino's directorial debut, "Reservoir Dogs," has remained a part of my top ten films since I first saw it a few years ago, and having just finished the crime classic again, I'd like to share my views and reflections on its thrilling story. As a stunning debut from an unknown director at the time, "Reservoir Dogs" has become a staple of the massive genre of crime films. This film also introduced Quentin Tarantino's trademark direction style, displaying controversial dark humor, well…
