“My life has been a tapestry of rich and royal hue, an everlasting vision of the ever changing view”- Carole King, born in New York on February 9 1942, started her career as a Brill Building songwriter. During her career at the Brill Building, King wrote most of her songs with her husband Gerry Goffin. The duo successfully wrote more than two dozen chart hits (Wikipedia), until 1968 when the couple separated. As a result of the split King chose to move across the country to Laurel Canyon, Los…
This paper analyzes two sculptures; Agora in Grant Park, Chicago and the Dying Niobide in Palazzo Missimo, Rome. Agora in Grant Park, Chicago Grant Park is no doubt a landmark feature in Chicago. At the park’s southwesterly parts stands the Agora sculpture. It is not only a recent addition in the park but it also stands out among the installations at the park. Its height makes it easy to see from most points within the park. The sculpture is composed of 9-foot tall Greek-inspired human torsos…

There were two types: flake tool and core tool, depending on what needed to be done. The second tool made was the Acheulean it…

The Archaic Era was a very important era in the world. It started about 2,500- 10,000 years ago (Schultz 2014). Agriculture became the primary source of living during this time. It made many populations grow larger. It made food supplies become more obtainable and the groups no longer depended on hunting. Kidney stones come mainly in 4 varieties- calcium, struvite, cystine and finally uric acid. That said, nearly 80% of the kidney stones are comprised of calcium deposits, most notably the oxalate type. While certain foods may promote stone formation in people who are susceptible, scientists do not believe that eating any specific food causes stones to form in people who are not susceptible. Fortunately, because cutting such a vital and delicate organ carries a high risk of permanent damage,…
When analyzing the differences between the song “You are my Best Friend” by Queen and the cover performed by The Once, it may feel almost incomparable. Although the formal structure of the cover follows the same form of the original, the tempo varies. The cover is sung slower which gives the song a differing emotional response than the fast-paced rock song. Personally, I find it difficult to compare the recording production between the performances. When comparing the technology between both…
From the beginning of humankind tools people have used for the use of survival and livelihood. One of the most useful but underrated tools ever invented, the tomahawk’s humble beginnings go back thousands of years to the days of wood and stone. Of all of the forms that this tool took, pipe tomahawks have received the least attention. The pipe tomahawk and the DeQuindre tomahawk both possess great and interesting traits. Though a form of the hatchet, the tomahawk has a slightly more elaborate…
10,000 years ago, the Neolithic Revolution began. As we read in our text it was simply defined as, “…the far-reaching changes in human life resulting from the beginning of farming.” Civilization was a change for the better, and the most revolutionary shift to the world we live in today. Without the impeccable advancement and basic idea of civilization, many of our accomplishments and progressions would have never been as strong, or even completed generally. A flashback into one of the ancient…
Based on Otzi’s belongings I think he was a hunter. IF he was a farmer I believe he would have brought some of his own food with him. Even though he had arthritis he seems to be too skilled with a bow and arrow to just be a farmer since 1 arrow had 2 different people’s blood on it. I also think he lives with a group of people since he was whipworm. Whipworm is spread by human poop which makes me think he can’t get sick of his own poop. I don’t believe he died from this illness since he does not…
