Deficiency judgment

During the Foreclosure Crisis several years ago, my community was hit hard. I never thought I would see homes in my neighborhood being foreclosed. It was unbelievable. I was in middle school and high school when this was going on and heard my parents discussing this many times. I look back and think there were things that could have been done to prevent this from being a nation-wide disaster. I believe that there are things that can be done to minimize the effect of a foreclosure crisis again if we can identify it early and put in policies that will help families keep their homes and continue to make progress. I also believe that there could be government funded programs that could have put people to work to help this. First, I think it’s important for families to stay in their homes. I saw friends that had to move out of their home and rent other homes because they could not pay their mortgage. In the mean time, their home sat empty with a leaking roof and backed up ice and water that damaged ceilings and walls This could have been prevented if they were living in that house. I think that if the bank/mortgage company were able to provide a government funded subsidy program that allowed the home owners to pay a smaller amount of their mortgage while they looked for a new job it would allow the family to stay in the home and continue to pay off the mortgage even though it is at a slower pace.
